Deauville

The Duke of Morny, half brother to Napoleon III, created the sea side resort of Deauville in the late 19th century. The city rapidly expanded with the construction of a new Casino and luxury hotels. The Impressionists, as well as writers and musicians, found inspiration in Deauville. In 1975, the first American Film Festival took place here, and today it is still Deauville’s main rendez-vous.
