If Normandy is the 21st “arrondissement” of Paris, the County of Eure county is its front door! For centuries, it was well protected by powerful castles. Many centuries later, Monet decided to settle here, plant his magnificent gardens, and explore the countryside with paintbrush and easel at hand.
The small village of Giverny then became a village for Impressionism. But the County of Eure is also full of other beautiful towns and villages with their half-timbered houses and abbeys, such as can be seen at Lyons-la-Forêt which also became famous for lovers’ trysts and getaways. A whole world to discover and enjoy.
