Anne-Sophie Navet
I was born and went to school in the medieval town of Bayeux, and raised on a renowned stud farm in Normandy’s luscious hedgerow country near Omaha Beach. Both sides of my family have deep roots in this region and have been farming here for many generations.
As a child, my grandparents would often take me to the nearby D-Day beaches, reminiscing those historic events they had experienced themselves as civilians.
This pushed me to become a guide at the Normandy American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach, where I helped visitors from all over the world for nearly 20 years to connect with the stories of those who rest there eternally - whether they were school kids, families, in the military, or diplomats. Of that time I have kept powerful memories of escorting family members to the graves of their loved ones.
I like to adapt to the needs and interests of my guests so their experience in Normandy becomes unique. To me, welcoming visitors to Normandy means welcoming people to my home: it puts a smile on my face and makes me feel full of appreciation that they give me the opportunity to allow them to love Normandy as much as I do.
So I am eager to share Normandy war stories and to show you scars in its beautiful landscape to help us understand how it was like to go through the D-Day Landing.
